Daniel C. Darrow, M. D., president of the Moorhead Hospital, is one of the leading surgeons of the Red River valley. He was born in Neenah, Wisconsin, on January 4, 1850, and came from New England ancestry. His parents were Daniel C. and Isabella (Murray) Darrow, both born and reared in New York state, and moved to Wisconsin in the year 1846, when the country was new and the principal industry was farming and trading with the Indians. Alphonse Cyr, M. D., one of the popular physicians of Barnesville, Minnesota, came from Montreal, where he was born on July 5, 1872, the son of Joan B. and Rosalie (Demers) Cyr. He was educated in the public schools there, and in the St. Lawrence College, in Quebec, from which he graduated with the class of 1892. Catlin, of the firm of Catlin Brothers, dealers in drugs, jewelry and notions, at Barnesville, Minnesota, is a native of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, and was born April 23, 1871, the youngest son of Nelson and Elizabeth (Keyes) Catlin. A. T. Austinson, one of the founders and builders of the village of Ulen, Minnesota, was born in Norway, May 5, 1857. His parents were Torkle and Guri (Descud) Austinson.
