Minnesota Digital Newspaper Hub

The Minnesota Digital Newspaper Hub is a searchable website from the Minnesota Historical Society that makes hundreds of thousands of pages of Minnesota newspapers available online. The Hub contains geographically and culturally diverse newspapers published between 1856 and today. Due to copyright law, newspapers published after 1922 can only be accessed from the Gale Family Library at the Minnesota History Center. They currently have scanned 144 different newspapers titles from across Minnesota.

Chronicling America

A freely accessible website that hosts historic newspapers (1860-1922) from across the United States for noncommercial, educational, and research purposes. From 2007 to 2014, the Minnesota Historical Society contributed digitized Minnesota newspaper pages to Chronicling America as part of the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP).  There are currently 38 historic Minnesota newspaper titles published between 1858 and 1922 available with keyword search capabilities.

Small Town Papers gives you free access to the people, places and events recorded in real time over the decades or even centuries! Browse and search the scanned newspaper archive from 1846 up to the current edition! There are 21 Minnesota small town newspapers available.

Historical Minneapolis Tribune (1867-1922)

Free online access to the Historical Minneapolis Tribune (1867-1922) is now available through a new platform provided by the Minnesota Historical Society in partnership with Minnesota State Library Services. Funding for digitization and access to the newspapers was provided by the Minnesota Department of Education through a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
