Knud Nedburge, born in Norway in 1865, is a prominent agriculturalist in Goose Prairie Township, Clay County, Minnesota. The son of Lars and Ingabor Nedburge, he immigrated to the United States in 1885, initially settling in Twin Valley, Minnesota, before moving to Clay County. After working as a farm laborer for five years, he married Clara Nykreim in 1890. They purchased a 160-acre farm near Ulen, Minnesota, transforming it into a well-developed property with a fifteen-room residence and extensive farm buildings. The couple had eight children, seven of whom survived. Nedburge was active in the United Lutheran Church and local politics, serving as a Republican school treasurer and board supervisor.
Knud Nedburge, a successful self-made man in Clay County and a respected agriculturalist in Goose Prairie Township, is the brother-in-law of the amiable county treasurer, Chris Paulson, whose profile is also featured in this history.
Mr. Nedburge was born in Norway in 1865, the son of Lars and Ingabor Nedburge, who were also natives of Norway. The mother passed away in Norway, while the father still resides there. The family had nine children, with our subject being the only representative of the family in America. He received his education in the public schools and worked on a farm in Norway until 1885. At that time, he decided to seek his fortune in the United States and initially settled in Twin Valley, Minnesota. However, he remained there only briefly before moving to Clay County later that same year. In Clay County, he worked as a farm laborer on a monthly basis for approximately five years.
In 1890, Mr. Nedburge married Miss Clara Nykreim, and together they purchased a 160-acre farm in Section 4 of Goose Prairie Township, located one mile south of Ulen village. They acquired the land at a reasonable price per acre, although there were no existing buildings on the property except for a log house and granary. Eight years later, Mr. Nedburge constructed a comfortable farm residence with fifteen rooms, a barn measuring forty-eight by sixty feet, a granary sized sixteen by twenty-six feet, and other spacious outbuildings. He engages in general farming and has well-fenced land, along with a fine herd of cattle, hogs, horses, sheep, and a few thoroughbred Angora goats.
Mrs. Nedburge, born on October 26, 1873, in Goodhue County, Minnesota, is the eldest child among seven siblings. Mr. and Mrs. Nedburge are the proud parents of eight children, with seven of them still living. They are affiliated with the United Lutheran Church.
Mr. Nedburge has consistently supported the Republican party. He served one term on the board of supervisors and has been the school treasurer for several years.
