He was born on October 15, 1882, in Wilkin County, Minnesota, to Brady Holt. His father has passed away, and his mother later remarried to Mr. Ole E. Vanderborg, who also passed away in 1908. Together, they had three children named Antone, George, and Bertha.

Mr. Ben Holt attended the district schools and later pursued a commercial course at the correspondence school in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Around 1900, he relocated to Barnesville and secured employment at Norby & Solum department store, where he has remained ever since, except for a brief period when he worked as a clerk in the grocery department at Y. Gunness & Company. He is a diligent and enterprising young man, known for his broad and progressive views on various local matters of interest in the town. He also owns a farm in section — and is highly regarded by his employers for his dedication and honesty. Additionally, he is a member of the Masonic Order and the Modern Brotherhood of America.
